This patriotic clutch is so simple to make and it’s festive for Labor Day, Memorial Day, and the Fourth of July. You could use any canvas or jean material bag, clutch, or tote.
If you’re having a Summer party or Slumber party and need a creative group activity, this is a fun DIY project to make with friends!

This clutch is not just for kids either! It’s super cute for mom to carry around any day that your mood or outfit calls for it.
Don’t have time to make this now? Pin this post for later.
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own patriotic clutch…
First you want to wash the bag or clutch you choose to use for the project and let fully dry.
Next decide on a pattern for your clutch. You could do more of a traditional flag look or what I did was a folded flag look. Also decide if you want to do one or two sides. I did both, but it would be cute with one side blank.
Start in a corner and apply the blue fabric crayon. Once you are happy with the blue begin the striped part of the flag alternating red and white.
Now let the paint dry for a few hours.
Once dry, it’s time to iron the paint to set it. Turn your iron on high and use a thin cloth between the project and your iron. Iron the project well for 1-2 minutes.
Place your stars where you want them on the project. Repeat the steps with a thin cloth between the stars and the iron pressing down for 30-40 seconds on each star.
Enjoy your fun summer clutch!
