Add a base coat of paint to each one of your terracotta pots. Paint three pots white and one pot purple. Allow your pots time to dry about 30 minutes or so. Apply a second coat, if necessary.
Let’s Make A Candy Corn Flower Pot
Paint a band of yellow and a band of orange on one of your white clay pots to create the candy corn look. Let dry. Get started on the others while you wait.
Once dry, follow the instructions for the ghost flower pots to make the face.
Let’s Make the Ghosts Flower Pots
The true Kawaii look is all in the features. Using the permanent black marker, create the eyes by drawing two small circles and filling them in. Make sure to leave a good amount of space between the eyes.
With the same marker, draw the mouth by making half a circle just under the eyes.
Add tiny white dots to the eyes with the white gel pen, making sure they are in the same position on both eyes. I made mine towards the top right.
Let’s Make A Spider Flower Pot
Make your spider’s face by following the same instructions from the ghost flower pots.
Cut four purple chenille stems in half with scissors to create the spider legs. Fold ¼” of one end of all eight chenille stem legs at a right angle.
One at a time, attach the folded end of four legs to each side of the spider with your glue gun. Starting with the front legs, bend down at the knee and up at the ankle.
Work your way to the back legs, making sure each leg is a little bit longer than the one before it. Trim excess pipe cleaner with scissors.
When you’re all done, I think we can agree that mini flower pots have never looked so cute! And even though they are for Halloween, they are definitely NOT creepy!
Hope you and your kids have a ton of fun making these cuties! – Happy Halloween!
