This nature scavenger hunt is a great way to distract the kids from technology and get them outside to enjoy the fresh air and have some fun!

When I was little I didn’t have the Internet, a cell phone, or 10,000 channels so going outside to play was the highlight of my day. But my kids? No way!

Give them an Xbox or a cell phone and their life is complete (and ohhh, how I wish I was kidding).

Let the adventure begin!

Nature scavenger hunts can be like an adventure for kids. Searching for and finding items is super exciting, especially if you turn this fun game into a competition!

The kids will be racing to be the first to find all the things on the list! Xbox who?

This outdoor scavenger hunt for kids is a fun idea for when you’re headed on a nature walk, a hike, a camping trip, a road trip, and even to the park.

There are many places you can have a great scavenger hunt!

What You’ll Need for Your Scavenger Hunt

  • This free printable Nature Scavenger Hunt List (of course!).
  • Pencils to check off the items you find.
  • Paper bags or even large ziploc baggies to keep your items in once you find them.
  • Scissors to cut out your lists (there are 2 lists on each printable).
  • Glue (optional).
  • A Magnifying Glass (you don’t need one but how fun would that be?).

As an idea, you can glue the list to paper bags with Elmer’s glue or a glue stick so that the kids can keep the list handy as they search.

Kids tend to misplace things so this is a great way to ensure they don’t lose their list. Especially the younger kids.
